The Macphail Centre, situated in Mill Street, Ullapool, is an excellent facility set in an environment enhanced by an innovative public arts project. We are part of Ullapool High School, the building on the right hand side of the A835 road as you drive through Ullapool heading north.

 

The Macphail Theatre provides a mid-scale performance venue capable of hosting major touring companies, music, dance performances and film shows.

We offer a range of meeting facilities to suit small groups through to conferences of up to 200 delegates.
We operate as a venue for your own training requirements and can assist with a range of learning opportunities.

The following courses are being run by Tkm Training during the Autumn at the Macphail Centre in Ullapool.

All courses are eligible for Individual Learning Accounts (up to £200 per eligible person) and may also qualify for funding for businesses through the Flexible Training Opportunities Fund administered by Skills Development Scotland for eligible businesses (up to 50% of the costs to the value of £500 per employee, for up to 10 employees).  If you need any assistance with applications for either of these funds please do not hesitate to get back in contact.  Please note that ILAs can take up to 6 weeks to process and candidates must be in receipt of vouchers prior to course attendance.  Order your ILA pack www.ilascotland.org.uk Or tel 808 100 1090.

 

REHIS Risk Assessment Course – 27 October 2011 (half day) - £60

All employers are legally required to conduct risk assessments of the workplace and where they have 5 employees or more, these should be recorded.  This half day course provides an ideal practical introduction to risk assessment and how they should be carried out in the workplace.

 

REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene – 1 November 2011 - £90

Designed for all food workers in the food industry. Required by staff who handle open high risk food, or who handle food and have a supervisory role.  Costs include all refreshments, catering, exam fees and certificates for successful candidates.

 

BIIAB Scottish Certificate for Personal Licence Holders – 8 November 2011 - £160

A Scottish personal licence holder's qualification is required by anyone who wishes to apply for a Personal Licence under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005.  Costs include all refreshments, catering, exam fees and certificates for successful candidates.

 

REHIS Intermediate Food Hygiene – 14 – 16 November 2011 inclusive - £375

Appropriate for those working in a supervisory capacity including managers, supervisors and chefs.  Costs include all refreshments, catering, exam fees and certificates for successful candidates.  Exam date – 1 Dec 2011

This interactive two hour workshop will look at what practical strategies are needed to make your committee run well and how meetings can be productive, interesting and run to time! It will cover roles and responsibilities as well as the all important dynamics of human relationships which can determine whether a committee is working in a co-operative and democratic way. It will be led by Sue Mitchell who manages the Workers' Educational Association in Highland.
